BK’s Live Painting @ Velour NYC

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

Picture 60

Special thanks to everyone for coming out and showing support! It was a great night, especially for our first time out. There will be many more in the future.

For those of you who couldn’t make it, there was about 40 people who contributed to the live painting. They can pick their own color, their own brush, and they have complete freedom to paint however and whatever they want. The whole process is inspiring and extremely rewarding. Not only do the participants feel like a part of the painting, but its very challenging for me. The end result is never planned, it is collectively defined by everyone involved.

Once the final piece is complete, it will become part of the collection behind the bar at Velour. Stay tuned to the website to see the finished product. I painted on two pieces that night, the other is going into my august exhibition at Queens hospital. I will post more info on that very soon!

Here are some more pics…

The Awakening

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

There was something before there was nothing, there had to be… It was what has come to be known as “energy”. The word energy is a representation of an idea that we are innately born with, it is the idea of the forces that make up everything, yet can’t be defined in human terms. This idea, for the rest of this talk I’m having with myself, will be referred to as energy.
Energy exists in two separate forms, there is positive energy, and there is negative energy. The humanness/evil that our race displays is a testament to the journey that each soul must embark upon to find there way to “the sacred place” or balance (also an idea that a word cannot express correctly). I feel the need to point out that each religion of the world recognizes a concept of a “good” divine place, and a “bad” one.
Spiritual guidance, growth, and joy is a direct result of a positive balance that is achieved through trial and error, THERE MUST, MUST, MUST be negative energy to achieve balance.. Some souls (people) need to experience a great deal of evil so that they can understand and truly attain a “balance of energy” others need practically none (saints, and prophets, for example) and still the majority will remain blind forever. This balance is joy. Joy again is a word that is an idea; it is an idea of an abundance, of strength of spirit, of a miraculous feeling of true happiness. I’m not mentioning anything material because it doesn’t matter; there is no currency in “balance”.
Joy……..it is the feeling when you are in love, when your team wins despite the odds, get an A on a hardest test you have ever taken, the feeling of accomplishment when legitimate effort pays off, THIS IS JOY, all of it, the feeling right then, in that moment is the balance of life, taking all of your faults and accepting them, even acknowledging them, then politely refusing to care about them, because you are excellent, in tune with everyone and everything around you.
The human mind is ruled by emotion. Its potential is limitless. We have THE FREE WILL to decide how to feel about ANYTHING that happens to us.

can you hear it?

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

I am not a man. I am not a women…..I am an idea. I exist everywhere and no where at the same time. I am the constant for the earth. I am the constant for the heavens. The stars whisper my words. The mountains echo my thoughts. I am basic. I am complex. I am understood in all the languages of humanity. I am hungry, but I don’t need food. I am thirsty, but I need no water. I cannot die, but I am not alive. My name……THE TRUTH.

The Search For Bridey Murphy

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

In 1952, Colorado businessman and amateur hypnotist Morey Bernstein put housewife Virginia Tighe of Pueblo, Colorado in a trance that sparked off startling revelations about Tighe’s alleged past life as a 19th-century Irishwoman and her rebirth in the United States 59 years later. Bernstein used a technique called hypnotic regression, during which the subject is gradually taken back to childhood. He then attempted to take Virginia one step further, before birth, and suddenly was astonished to find he was listening to Bridey Murphy.

Her tale began in 1806 when Bridey was eight years old and living in a house in Cork. She was the daughter of Duncan Murphy, a barrister, and his wife Kathleen. At the age of 17 she married lawyer Sean Brian McCarthy and moved toBelfast. Bridey told of a fall that caused her death and of watching her own funeral, describing her tombstone and the state of being in life after death. It was, she recalled, a feeling of neither pain nor happiness. Somehow, she was reborn in America, although Bridey was not clear how this event happened. Virginia Tighe herself was born in the Midwest in 1923, had never been to Ireland, and did not speak with even the slightest hint of an Irish accent.
