“Artist of The Year”



The theme of this year’s gala and awards presentation is “Unlock Your Inner Art,” in honor of local champions who have shown their commitment to creativity in their service to the community.

During the event the following local champions will be honored for their passion and creativity in serving the community:

Outstanding Community Leader of the Year – Joseph Manko, Liberty Elementary School

Outstanding Woman of the Year – Kate Williams, M&T Bank

Outstanding Man of the Year – Teddy Coates, Black Professional Men

Outstanding Educator of the Year – Deana Frank, Elijah Cummings Youth Program

Outstanding Organization of the Year – Sarah Hemminger, Incentive Mentoring Program

Outstanding Artist of the Year – Brian Kirhagis, Brik Art

Outstanding Entreprenuer of the Year – Taharka Brothers Ice Cream Co.

Outstanding Student of the Year – TBA

Financial Rockstar Academy Student of the Year – TBA


Brandi Proctor of Baltimore’s FOX 45 and Walter Maxfield Jones of the Sweet Spot

The gala will feature dynamic local artists, including live music, interactive artwork being created during the event, light hor’doeurves, cocktails, and guided tours of current Maryland Historical Society exhibits as well as asilent auction and live auctioning of the completed interactive art pieces.

All proceeds from the event will benefit I am O’Kah’!’s college scholarship, mentoring and Financial Rockstar Academy.
